Visit the travel agent, go online or browse the teletext pages, book a break in Spain or Serbia or Skegness - just aim to get out of town by July 1, and don't come back until the G8 summit frenzy is well and truly over. A few months ago, I wasn't all that perturbed about the impact of the G8 summit. Edinburgh is well used to welcoming international visitors and enduring the over-crowding caused by the Festival every summer. We've also played host to major events like the Commonwealth Games and the CHOGM summit, and there's been sundry marches and protests since the Scottish Parliament opened in 1999.
