Gillis/Daily News staff If you're looking for fireworks during the Independence Day weekend, they shouldn't be hard to find. On Friday, July 1, Naval Station Newport and the Rocket Dawgs of Jamestown will set off fireworks at nightfall. The Navy base fireworks will follow a concert by Navy Band Northeast. The Jamestown fireworks will be set off from Fort Wetherill when it gets dark. In Newport, fireworks are scheduled Sunday, July 3, at 9:15 p.m. from Fort Adams. Charles Roberts of Newport, who is coordinating the event, said the display will run about 20 minutes and Bay Fireworks of New York will handle the pyrotechnics.
