But that’s what happened to factory worker Mohamad Nordin Derais, 34, yesterday. Someone made off with his son from the infirmary of Sungai Petani Hospital, just hours after he was born. The baby’s mother, Noryati Abu Bakar, 31, had not even held her son when he was abducted. The hospital director, Dr Harif Fadzilla Che Hashim, declined to comment on the abduction, and the state health authorities have directed an investigation into how this could have happened in an area that is supposed to be a security zone, where only the immediate parents of babies are allowed in during visiting hours.
