Spurs thriving under pop culture; San Antonio Coach Popovich is quick to deflect attention         Rocky Mountain News June 21, 2005       Two years ago, Gregg Popovich was honored with a trophy for NBA Coach of the Year. Surprisingly, he did not make like George C. Scott and refuse it. Popovich bristles when compliments come his way. He sidesteps questions that infer he might have something to do with the success of the San Antonio Spurs. But the Spurs coach soon might have a hard time avoiding such topics.
