The chair of the Southern Tasmanian Councils Board and Hobart Lord Mayor Rob Valentine said the Tasmanian Government initiative was excellent and would immediately take 500 students off the Southern Outlet. This would ease pressures on the outlet, particularly when the college was operating, and did not involve spending on expensive road infrastructure. Ald Valentine said those sorts of ideas needed to be explored before new highways were considered.
