The Village Laundry remained closed Tuesday following Rebecca Hope Wagoner's death, which stunned many in the Smyth County town of fewer than 3,000 residents. "It's the worst, most horrific thing I've dealt with in my career," Police Chief Dwayne Sheffield said. Investigators were awaiting autopsy results from the state medical examiner's office in Roanoke, Sheffield said.
